Project Manager

Paul Westcott’s growth within the Vermont Timber Frames family has truly been astounding. Back in 1996, Paul’s first responsibilities included surfacing timbers during fabrication as well as basic chamfering. He quickly earned the respect of his fellow employees and continued to hone his skills under the supervision of timber frame guru Paul Martin. During his two years as one of VTF's top joiners, Paul had many opportunities to go on timber frame raisings and quickly demonstrated his aptitude for leading these crews. It wasn't long before the company relied on Paul to coordinate and lead some very challenging and notable projects, such as the Maidstone Country Club and the Glossauer Residence in Germany.

As VTF continued to grow, the position of shop supervisor became more and more crucial to the quality of our work and to the success of our company. After just three years with VTF, Paul was promoted to this position. His working knowledge of timber framing combined with strong people skills and a genuine enthusiasm for the craft to make him an ideal fit. During his time as shop supervisor, Paul taught and managed almost thirty joiners, and helped ease VTF into a second shift to meet production demands. He also served as a valuable liaison to company president Tom Harrison as VTF continued to improve its quality, craftsmanship, and efficiency.

The next step up the ladder for Paul was project manager. Paul took several night AutoCad courses to prepare for the move to PM, which entailed detailing, and eventually designing timber frames as well as coordinating the project itself. Paul's working knowledge of timber framing and seasoned shop experience complemented the rest of our design staff quite well.

As Vermont Timber Frames blossomed into one of the larger timber frame companies in the US, joinery design became a critical component of the overall timber frame design process. Knowing how a frame goes together from hands-on experience directly affects how the joinery is designed and can save significant time and money. Paul’s aptitude in both AutoCad (the design program) and HSB (the program that transfers the design language into production language) combined with his practical experience to help make our timber frame production and raisings as efficient as ever.

Vermont Timber Frames is proud of Paul for his contributions to the growth of our company. We are also proud of the fact that we foster a company philosophy that rewards our employees for a job well done. VTF encourages our employees to continue to learn about their craft and provides them with opportunities to grow professionally.
